Today’s Info 3rd October 2014

Kind of glad to see September come to an end, the changeover month rarely kind for value seeking purposes and with the jumps about to kick in it’s all about pastures new and different ways of cracking a puzzle.

That said it’s still the flat with Ascot on that catches the attention this afternoon.

In the opener Nameitwhatyoulike has been on the cold list for some time, last winning over the extended mile at Nottingham in 2012 but since then and certainly at the beginning of this term was pitched into some very tough races. A change of scenery recently to Bryan Smart’s yard may just be what was needed and it looked very promising on a first run for connections when second to Comino at Thirsk. A big field and Paul Mulrennan in the plate today off what will be a very workable mark if he can return to his very best form is appealing now and the yard are in very good form indeed. They may have something to work with now and hopefully the promise of the end of 2012 and the pick of the summer efforts in 2013 are not too far away from being rekindled. If so he is a nice price to take on the layers with today.

The other goes in the 2.30 and comes from a yard also in rude health, that’s William Knight with Secret Art. The yard did well with the gelding when first getting hold of him and have struggled since getting a hike for a nice success on just a second start for Knight. Martin Harley got a good tune out of him on the all weather recently and his turf form is not shabby in the context of this conditions race for the return to grass. Tigers Tale that beat him then has run very well behind Bronze Angel since and he could be about to step up again in this Class 3 affair which is weaker then when running well behind some solid animals in the summer.

Best of luck with your selections and have a good day.
