Today’s Info 4th May 2014
Some day yesterday with a 40/1 poke landing the Guineas, a monster scoop 6 evading even the syndicate money and Punchestown wrapping up a terrific week of racing. A winner or two would help and Heaney was the biggest disappointment for me yesterday, perhaps it was a touch too soon after the National effort but I’d have liked to him have jumped better anyway. Big Baz was unbalanced and ill at ease behind a wall of horses at Newmarket, he needs to be given space and bowl along, when he does that will bring out the best in him. Adrianna Des Mottes couldn’t run up to her previous form with her stable mate winner at Punchestown, Ruby choose correctly and to be fair has done so this term.
It’s 1000 Guineas day and there is a horrid drift taking place on Rizeena, 5/1 looks very big and hopefully this is just what has become the usual weekend adjustment for races with a long ante post history. So often now you see the red hot pre race god thing out to it’s biggest price for months when actually it’s in the race, lining up and subject to good words from connections….ante post betting is somewhat dead if you like a market fancy.
I’ve had a small bet at 5s but I want to have small dabbles at the little pocket rocket Vorda and Princess Noor.
Vorda‘s form puts her at the head of the market for me but there is the obvious stamina issue, a lot will depend on the tactics from the 19 box but a little bit of cover for the first quarter of the race and then she can take them on properly from there and she will be in business. A winner here before, ground has come right and she’s prepped up.
Princess Noor was beaten by Vorda here of course, to get that close to Vorda was impressive considering where she will end up trip wise and this filly has been over looked a little now. A decent price and I would be sick if she got as tight with Vorda again but out stayed the french filly now.
In the opener I am looking forward to seeing Cafe Society, whether it is here today or not he will make good use of his mark and should be one to keep on side. Excuses were easy to make for him last year, that should not be the case this time with another winter on board. Fingers crossed Simcock is lining up trimmed and ready to go.
The last bet to discuss is Secondo, another who I am hoping flies up the ranks this term. This race is a lovely starting point and he is in my opinion a horse to catch fresh so first time up is a plus. Should have options from his draw and if all goes well can be let off again for a targeted decent pot and repeat! Plans are good to have but he has to account for these first.
Good day in store, best of luck with your bets…
