Today’s Info 7th April 2015
Well a superb result for us in the Irish Grand National as Thunder and Roses came home in front and Sizing Coal ran a massive race at rag odds to hit the frame. Thanks for all the kind messages and hopefully we don’t have to wait until next Easter for a similar return in what has often been a very lucky race for readers of my column!
On to today and Fairyhouse stages the third day of the Festival with a decent card. A small turn out in the Normans Grove is a shame but it’s good race and Mallowney has been so impressive this year it’s hard to oppose. Savello is interesting as the main contender with Twinlight hard to catch right as always.
The Plan Man has a bit to recommend him on for in form Tony Martin in the trappy looking handicap hurdle this afternoon. Good form behind some very nice animals and ridden a number of different ways, he can be keen and is better bowling along, with Shane Shortall taking off a few pounds he has a very lively weight here and was also entered up at Aintree so this is a good prize that they have decided on here. Certainly not a 20/1 shot even with an absence to overcome.
Mister First likes Fairyhouse and hasn’t had too many opportunities to race over this trip often campaigned at shorter on very bad ground. A lovely traveller who is handicapped to run well it may just be worth siding with him as the ground dries out and he is given a proper test against only a fair field of rivals. Andrew Lynch knows him well and at double figures looks overpriced this afternoon. The yard have not been firing them in but it’s the right time of year for Mister First to figure again.
Only two then today and nothing appeals on the flat at this stage of the season but it will start to warm up there soon!
