Today’s Info 8th October 2014

It’s taken me a few days to recover from the wonder filly Treve denying my attempt to land a punt in the Arc with Flintshire who ran right up to his best under favoured conditions but she is special and returned to her wonderful self – congratulations to all concerned. Heartbreak here!

A nice handicap chase at Ludlow is the port of call today. The race goes at 3pm with What A Warrior undoubtedly nicely treated for the Skelton camp but if back from a break and faces a stiff examination on return especially over this trip. At the prices there is plenty to take on trust and makes very little appeal.

Dreamsoftheatre has been frustrating and looks on a mark with limited room to work with whilst he is one that will be thereabouts for McCoy as a win proposition the doubts are louder than the positives this afternoon. Last years winner Imperial Circus has been set the task again this year and faces a tougher ask of course from the top of the weights. He could well have been laid out for it once more and has conditions to suit, a worthy market principle and one to beat perhaps if he is returned cherry ripe under Richard Johnson.

One I think represents some value in the contest is My Lad Percy for the Martin Keighley yard. Only three chase starts to date and campaigned the summer away over hurdles on quick ground. The run behind Barton Stacy last time was back over the bigger obstacles and he was only worn down by a superior animal in the finish. Hit the front a touch to soon but impressed enough to think the handicapper could have been tougher on him. A couple of pounds more and Sam Twiston-Davies takes over from the otherwise engaged Johnson who rides for Hobbs here. It’s a strong booking and I think there is more to come from this 6 year old.

At an each way price with confidence restored and it’s very possible he might put it all together on the owners birthday in a race where some holes can be picked in the others.

Advice –

Ludlow 3.00 – My Lad Percy 0.75pt e/w – 8/1 General
