Today’s Info 9th May 2014
Yesterday didn’t go to plan, the two runners in the first never looked happy with one quiet ride and one more animated but without much response. When I saw Muteela put in at the generous odds pre race I was very keen to get involved again but then she gave Paul Hanagan an awful time and was withdrawn. Allthekingshorses wouldn’t have appreciated the rain at Wincanton so the right move was made by connections to keep him away, so we can wait with him.
I’d be with Brown Panther in the Ormonde but the prices are below minimums for me and I’ll be watching only, shame the field cut up but will be a decent race and interesting to see how the tactics play out.
I like Frontier Fighter in the first, this track will suit really well for a return to turf and he has a solid draw. Only started racing at 4 years old and has been really busy since. Improved bundles in a mostly a/w career but has turf form and no reason why he will not translate the latest progress back on grass. The ground could be a concern but although he didn’t figure when last encountering it that race did not pan out well for him rather than the ground being the issue. I think the price is fair for a wager.
In the 3.50 Gabrial’s Bounty might be able to defy a lay off but the prices are not appealing at all. Grissom however should have a decent chance with the field thinned out and will relish conditions. Thirsk run was very positive and you have to forgive a quick outing since, form at this track stacks up well and this is a better opportunity to back up the reappearance off what is an attractive mark. Draw will need to be negotiated but I’m chancing the traffic problems will be easier with four out of the field.
I’m leaving it there, and stakes a little reduced with the ground, so good luck with you punts.
