Today’s Info, Derby Day Epsom

An excellent day yesterday with Farraaj and Taghrooda impressive winners and with a bit more luck we might have collected further with Velox and Nakuti both getting stopped during their races, saddle also slipped on the latter, so for them to finish so close means they have to remain in the book for future engagements.

On to today and it is the Derby, a horse has never been created with such a powerful profile as Australia boasts for this race. Parents both triumphed on this stage in their races and with the 3rd in the Guineas looking very strong form and this trip and ground ( rain hasn’t got in yet ) looking to hold no fears the price doesn’t look too bad. I hope he blows them away but looking at the market there is some value with the likes of John Oxx’s Ebanoran and Kingston Hill along with True Story but with possibly only place returns should the hype turn out to be right then I’m passing.

What About Carlo was well beaten at Haydock but you can safely draw a line through it in my view given the way the day panned out and the conditions they faced then. He travelled again but found little on the sloppy and sticky ground, this will be perfect and there is lots more to come from this colt who has a cheeky Eclipse entry. Bumped and a bit sore after the last run I expect with a clear passage we may see something far better and the price is generous.

Flintshire is a decent chance in the Coronation but the rain needs to hold off, watch the first and then decide whether to play each way, I think he can win and has more to offer but should be the one closest to Cirrus whatever the result of the weather.

Hopes N Dreams is one to consider in the Dash, will need a good jump from 4 but can make them all go if getting that, Shane Gray takes off a few pounds and Kevin Ryan has a very solid guide on all the speedsters around at the moment. Hopefully this one is ready after a couple of spins to go well at a decent price in a minefield. Steps is the other I’d consider but I’m happy with one selection and might have a small saver on Fallon.

I’m happy there for the day, Australia will hopefully make it a fun one and with a bit of luck I’ll grab a return.

Advice –

Epsom

1.50 What About Carlo 1pt Win – 9/1 General with most firms

3.15 Hopes N Dreams 0.75pt e/w – 50/1 Stan James and Victor, 4 places and 1/4 odds, several firms go 5 places and 40s
