Today’s Info, Royal Ascot Day 4

Good morning

Crossbar yesterday with Windshear who was well backed as expected following Cannock Chase putting in a mighty performance earlier in the day. A fourth in the big handicap to go with other placed horses this week and I am getting closer.

On to today at the meeting and I think I might get a winner or two!

The Albany kicks it off and Patience Alexander is the best on what has been witnessed but this is full of likely types and I’m not sure what to expect from the Ward runner Sunset Glow. A winner in America just two weeks ago and the pedigree suggests this will be perfect over 6f, the relation of Reckless Abandon has to be the one to beat for the speedball trainer. At bigger prices I like the chances of Effusive and Bitter Lake to step up plenty on good efforts. I will be surprised though if one of the top two does not prevail and would side with Sunset Glow.

I’ve always been a fan of Cafe Society who has a run in the Wolferton before heading off to warmer climates with new trainer Gai Waterhouse. This is a little opportunistic but I think the win last time will have sorted this quirky lad out and off the foot of the weights I can’t back anything else in the race without being on this ones side. Fattsota catches the interest a little for O’Meara but only for pennies and I’m going with Cafe Society to head off with a a big win under his belt.

I’m not overly impressed with the field for the King Edward and make Snow Sky a pretty comfortable favourite. A good winner at Lingfield and then only a setback meant they missed the Derby. There should be plenty more to come and the good ground a big plus so I am surprised he is not closer to the market leader in the morning odds. Adelaide is too short and would not be certain to enjoy the ground with the action so I am happy to be against and think I have the right one.

The Coronation is next and I’m delighted to see My Titania out for John Oxx. The Sea The Stars filly is a really nice type and prospered when all around her at the yard were struggling. Missed a few engagements but the master handler is sending her for the big day and I have to stick with her now she is ready. It would not upset me to see Lightning Thunder win for Olly Stevens as she has been a star for them this season, booked a great jockey and the biggest danger but I think My Titania is a little star.

I’ve little to suggest for the Queen’s Vase and am skipping the race for betting. Hartnell is solid enough but uninspiring as any kind of punting material.

One Word More is a horse we haven’t seen the best off, this season has been a bit of a write off but I’m delighted Frankie Dettori is on top and am willing to chance that the drop in trip and decent ground ( acts on it despite best efforts on softer ) will bring out the best of him. Pace will be really solid and this one is overpriced and the mark could prove fair.

The other is less difficult to find as it heads the market but Russian Realm has an obvious chance and needs to be played as a saver at least. Don’t be afraid to play a few more to small stakes, the likes of Mezzotint, Santefisio and Blaine are all considered.
