Today’s Info, Saturday 16th August 2014

Good morning

Another packed Saturday ahead – fun in the States to add too so lots to work with.

I’m tackling the two big handicaps at Ripon first. Polski Max is coming to a must win position given the tumbling mark and the end of summer allowing for a little ease in conditions. I would have liked to see a bit more last time out but the market was positive that day which bodes well for what might be about to come. George Challoner is still on top and from the bottom of the weights with his assistance and a mark that is way below what he has done as recently as the beginning of last term then he has to be on side. Pieces are kept on and this trip will hopefully allow them to work better in terms of settling and coming with a run rather than the last time when quickly under the pump.

The main event at the track can hopefully go to Out Do, unlike Polski Max he is on a tough enough looking mark but is highly consistent and the addition of the visor can eek a little more from David O’Meara’s charge. Ran at Ripon last time out and possibly ran a little out of the main bunch, this is a big field cover will be there and a big prize is due following a string of similar efforts that might have ended in the winners enclosure. David O’Meara has Pepper Lane on his CV a two times winner in the contest and has a good chance of adding to that, drawn 4 makes up the mind of the jockey and I’d rather be low or high taking a view on this.

The greys race at Newmarket is always a nice spectacle and Medici Time looks set to go well in it once more at the right trip and picking up the runners late under a great booking of SDS. A few old regulars appear and the recent runs of Medici Time put him at the top of them, a small bet but hopefully a rewarding one.

On the same card Suzi’s Connoisseur looks a little big in the 2.55, with all respect to the supported Penny Drops who sets a fair standard. Hugo Palmer has Noel Garbutt up which will help as I thought he did well in two previous rides on the charge, especially at Epsom where it didn’t go to plan. Another small wager on one that should pick up a race soon.

Fergal Lynch is back on the course again and best of his chances looks Monel who has caught my eye a few times of late and is overpriced for Jim Goldie. Away from Ayr and edging up the weights but if the race is run to suit which I think is likely merits another small wager.

The last bet on a day for quantity perhaps over quality for me is Incurs Four Faults at Chester. Looks interesting placement to me by Keith Dalgliesh who has his yard in good form and this one on a nice upward curve. Ran well last time in a muddling affair and prior to that was impressive winning at Hamilton. It’s been slowly slowly so far but this trip and with a very dubious favourite in Notarised I think they have found a good opportunity. Should be more to come and another small wager.

Scattergun and takes tapered accordingly – good luck to all!
