Today’s Info, Sunday 17th August 2014

Good afternoon

Nice to land a pot with Out Do yesterday and Polski Max returned to form with a big run in the consolation contest.

Pontefract today provides a couple of races of interest for punting.

The first is the Listed 6f contest at 3.45pm where Ladies Are Forever and Valonia look the two to concentrate on. Preference is for the latter at the foot of the field. Henry Candy’s charge ran well at Goodwood but also put in a decent effort prior to that at Salisbury and with this ground a little easier at Pontefract can step up on those efforts under Harry Bentley. Ladies Are Forever has the merchandise in the cupboard for these types of contest and is in good order tackling mostly inferior opposition if on her A game. I’m not massively enthused at the odds for either but we have the most likely victors on side. Hopefully the pair will fight this out and Candy’s runner will have a little bit too much in receipt of 10lbs.

The other race I want to play in looks a good opportunity for a follow up win for Michael Appleby’s Poyle Vinnie at 5.20pm. A ready winner here eleven days ago and seems to have improved plenty of late. The extra furlong should bring more from the four year old gelding and the standard set is already enough to land the contest in my opinion. We’ll Deal Again is respected as next best and Decent Fella is a type that can put it in when it suits. I expect it to take a good performance to get the better of Poyle Vinnie and he merits support.

Advice –

3.45 Valonia 1pt Win – 9/2 General

3.45 Ladies Are Forever 0.5pt Win – 9/2 General

5.20 Poyle Vinnie 1pt Win – 3/1 General
