Treve Has Never Looked Better….
Al Shaqab racing advisor Harry Herbert spoke to RacingFM about the bid for history this season with their phenomenal filly Treve who will start back on the track this month on route to attempting to win a third Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp in October.
Herbert who arrived “late on the scene” joining the set up last year in the run up to her second win in the showpiece was immediately taken by her as you would have expected. “She’s just a remarkable filly, extraodinary, I remember seeing here for the first time over a year ago and thinking wow, I’d never seen a filly with such depth and a huge character.”
“She runs at the end of May in the Prix Corrida ( Saint Cloud ), that’s the plan and then that hopefully will set her up for the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and from there probably the Vermeille and then the Arc. It will be a light campaign hoping everything goes according to plan and at the moment she is in absolutely fantastic form, I’ve never seen her look better.”
Reflecting on last year’s run to the race and the interruptions on route Herbert was full of praise for Criquette Head her trainer. “She is an extraordinary trainer and like all those great trainers instinct plays such a key part in the decision making.”
“We have a long old wait to Arc day but that would be something unbelieveable, obviously for everyone involved with Al Shaqab of course but for the Racing industry. She is the Queen, two Arc’s is a remarkable feat, if she pulled off the treble and became the first horse ever to do that then thoroughbred lovers around the world would be applauding that.”
In a thorough look through Harry Herbert’s roles with his highly successful Highclere operation and his duties with Al Shaqab Harry explains hopes for the season ahead and how some of the horses with both operations are to be campaigned over the coming months. The podcast below for all!
