Twiston-Davies excited about the season ahead
Sam Twiston-Davies is very excited about the coming season, as he looks ahead to having his first full campaign as stable jockey to Paul Nicholls and also to riding some nice types for his father Nigel and Grand National winning trainer Dr. Richard Newland.
Fresh from his victory on his father’s The New One at Kempton at the weekend, Sam joined Donn McClean on this week’s The Weekend That Was show on RacingFM to discuss that victory and to look ahead to some of the exciting talents he will be riding in the months ahead.
“I am very lucky to be riding for Mr Nicholls and obviously my Dad and Dr. Newland as well this season and I have already sat on the likes of Wonderful Charm and Southfield Theatre who are very talented horses with some big targets come Cheltenham.
“You have also got the likes of Lac Fontana and it is very exciting to see them all getting ready for their runs and fingers crossed we can have a successful season.
“Wonderful charm has progressed nicely from his Novice season to this. I think Paul was talking about going to Ireland with him to Down Royal for the big race over there so that will be interesting to see how he goes. Obviously I am still learning about the horse but for me he is very interesting and hopefully we can have a lot of fun.”
